OMBS SUPPORTS CONCORD BAPTIST INSTITUTE
Seminary at Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Norman is up, running and faring nicely under the leadership of Pastor R.L. Clark. OMBS has chosen not to compete with this young and growing Seminary, so it is not offering classes at this time. The building in Marlow was finally sold at auction last fall. It had been listed with various realtors for several years with no serious takers. It had also been offered for use to at least two ABA potential works which were never initiated.
The proceeds of the sale remain as assets of OMBS. OMBS is an autonomous legal entity with its own charter and By-Laws. All assets of OMBS are in its name, and are not co-mingled with those of the sponsoring church. Without the burden of a building to keep up, the income from these assets is available to be used to further the purpose of OMBS, which is to promote the education of those who would be involved in the Lord's ministry. To this end, OMBS has committed itself to support Concord Baptist Institute.
There are at least four areas of support that OMBS has extended to the Seminary at Concord. The first was the gift of the extensive library that had been maintained at Marlow. Secondly, OMBS is providing regular monthly support to the Seminary. Thirdly, four scholarship funds are available to assist students with the costs of attending seminary. We strongly encourage students to make application for these funds. And finally, the trustees of OMBS and the membership of Abounding Grace Baptist Church, the sponsor, regularly lift up the Concord Baptist Institute and Concord Missionary Baptist Church to the Lord in prayer.
The trustees of OMBS and the membership of Abounding Grace are committed to the faithful stewardship of the assets of OMBS for the benefit of the associated churches of the state of Oklahoma. OMBS anticipates that it will offer courses, classes or other educational programs from time to time as the Lord leads, to supplement and compliment offerings by the Seminary at Concord. The ultimate goal, however is to have a full class schedule when the need and support for two seminaries again materializes.
